| Multiple glaciers are viewed
from your plane as it wings it's way along the northern escarpment
of Glacier Bay National Park into the glacier laden Tsirku Valley
(Glacier Valley). Crossing over Broken Heart Ridge, Takhin Glacier
and DeBlondeau Glacier your plane sets down at the remote, historic
gold mine site known as Nugget Creek. Our knowledgeable guides
assist you as you exit the plane and provide an orientation of
the valley. You are fitted with rubber boots that are equipped
with ice creepers before you board your helicopter for a breathtaking
flight upriver to the magnificent Tsirku Glacier. Your rower/guides
will assist your exit from the helicopter and you will have the
option of walking on the glacier or viewing its blue ice face-to-face
from the riverbank. A river safety briefing is presented and
you are fitted with lifejackets before boarding your waiting
rafts for one of the most awe-inspiring raft trips offered anywhere
in the world. Your "world Class" raft trip begins on
the remote headwaters of the river; the Tsirku Glacier. During
your time on the next 8-miles of river you will view 4 hanging
glaciers and 4 valley floor glaciers, plus encounter just enough
white water to generate some exciting moments. Your rower/guide
will do all the work, your job is to take in the wilderness landscape
unfolding around you and enjoy the ride. Your plane will be waiting
for you at Nugget Creek to transport you back to civilization. |
